Vapor Phase Hydrogen Peroxide (VPHP) Biological Indicators D-value from the manufacturer is of limited value. This is due to there being no standard cycle parameters in the industry. BI manufactures claim testing parameters of 2 mg/l of hydrogen peroxide. Most in the industry run at lower concentrations due to material being treated or to create a shorter aeration phase. To make it a little more complicated, temperature and humidity play a role in the kill kinetics of VPHP, neither of which is stated by the BI manufacturers. That is where Great Divide Labs can help. Below is testing we can perform to help give a usable D-value for VPHP Biological Indicators.
SERVICES OFFERED:
-Special cycle development to match end users' conditions with recertification of D-value
-Each Resistance testing includes a graph of the exposure conditions
-PPM of Hydrogen Peroxide
-Temperature
-Relative Humidity (RH)
-Fractionals
These parameters will be listed on the Certificate of Performance CoP along with a calculated D-value
Due to the poor penetration ability of Vapor Phase Hydrogen Peroxide VPHP, poorly made Biological Indicators can cause issues for end users and create costly investigations. We offer testing solutions to help screen out poor performing or poorly made BIs.
SERVICES OFFERED:
- Quality resistance testing designed to screen out poor performing BI lots
- Scanning Electron Microscopic SEM work to get an overall picture of the quality of the BI lot for spore piling and cleanliness
- Incoming inspection. Population verification, resistance testing per agreed upon cycle parameters and SEM pictures.
